Phansad Bird Sanctuary (50 kms from Alibaug Bus Stand)
In the land of beaches, there is something for nature and wildlife enthusiasts too. Spanning to an area of 52 sqm, this forest and sanctuary was earlier a private hunting zone for the Siddhi Nawab of the Janjira state. The sanctuary is home to varied rare species which you might not be able to encounter easily like hyena, jungle cat, palm civet, barking deer, bonnet macaque, wild boar, Malabar giant squirrel, and others. There are 148 species of birds as well which include pied hornbill, three-toed kingfisher, malkoha pitta and the likes.
